About Andy Lock – Landscape Photographer Scotland

Andy Lock is a professional landscape photographer in Scotland, renowned for capturing the country's wild mountains, ancient forests, dramatic coastlines and ever-changing light. Based in Perthshire, Andy spends much of his time exploring and photographing Scotland's most inspiring locations, sharing his experiences through photography workshops, online education and his growing YouTube channel.

Originally from Dorset on England's Jurassic Coast, Andy developed a deep appreciation for natural landscapes from an early age. After relocating to Scotland, he spent more than a decade living on the country's west coast, immersed in some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK. From the rugged peaks of the Highlands to remote coastal locations and hidden glens, Scotland became both his home and his greatest source of creative inspiration.

Today, Andy's photography is strongly influenced by the landscapes surrounding his Perthshire base. Ancient Caledonian pine forests, mist-filled valleys, snow-covered mountains and the rich seasonal colours of central Scotland all feature prominently in his work. His passion for discovering lesser-known locations and capturing Scotland in unique conditions has helped establish him as a respected Scottish landscape photographer.

Alongside creating fine art landscape photography, Andy leads photography workshops in Scotland, helping photographers of all abilities improve their skills in the field. His workshops focus on composition, light, camera techniques and developing a deeper connection with the landscape, allowing participants to experience some of Scotland's most beautiful locations while improving their photography.

Andy also shares his adventures through his popular YouTube channel, where he documents his journeys across Scotland's mountains, forests and coastlines. Through behind-the-scenes videos, location guides and practical photography advice, viewers can follow his creative process and discover the landscapes that inspire his work.

Before becoming a full-time photographer, Andy studied at Southampton College of Art and built a successful career in print, graphic design and web design. He continues to run his creative business, Andy Lock Design, combining decades of experience in visual communication with his passion for landscape photography.
